General English (GE)
Description
General English courses are designed to improve your English skills in speaking, listening, reading, writing and grammar.
Content
Classes are usually available at all levels - from elementary to advanced. They focus on everyday English.
Activities: active listening, pair and group practice; vocabulary and grammar development; role play and drama; discussion groups; writing workshops; daily journals (with corrections and grammar activities);
There might be used music; television and movies; debates; games; speed reading and self-access …
Exam
There are no official tests. However there are institutional test to check your level and as soon as you have improved sufficiently you can move to a class in the next level. At the end of the course you usually get a certificate that you attended this course.
Test of English for International Communication (TOEIC) is an English language proficiency test for people whose native language is not English. The test does not require specialised knowledge or vocabulary beyond that of a person who uses English in everyday work activities.
It is a two-hour multiple-choice test that consists of 200 questions divided into two sections: Listening and Reading.
TOEIC testing is available for General English students at completion of Level 3 (TOEIC Bridge test) and Level 6 (TOEIC test).
Length
- Students progress at their own tempo and are tested regularly.
- Full-time students: 20, 25 or 30 hours/week.
- Part-time students (mornings only): 15-17 hours/week.
Schedule
Courses starts usually every Monday.
Entry Requirements
None. On arrival, you will be tested and placed in the right class for your level of English.
